Kelim Gashgai Rug

The Gashgai are Turkish-speaking nomadic tribes who live in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are flatwoven wool rugs that can be used on both sides, featuring the traditional slit-weave technique. This means the weft leaves small gaps where the colors change. The rugs display classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star designs. Colors like blue, yellow, red, green, and beige are commonly used.
