The Gashgai are Turkish-speaking nomadic tribes who live in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are reversible, flat-woven wool rugs created with a characteristic slit-weave technique. This means that the weft contains slits at the points where the colors change. These rugs showcase classic Gashgai motifs such as diamonds, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star patterns. A color palette including blue, yellow, red, green, and beige is commonly used.
