Glen Garioch Renaissance 17 Year

This is the third release of the Renaissance series from Highland distiller, Glen Garioch. The distillate was aged in both sherry and bourbon casks before being bottled at a healthy, higher-than-average ABV. And if chocolate is your thing, this whisky fits the bill.

Nose: Sweet maltiness with orange zest. Fresh dinner rolls straight from the oven, slathered with dark, thick honey.

Palate: Fruit and spice, orange oil, toffee, and vanilla. With a touch of water, orange marmalade comes to the fore, complemented by milk chocolate and a crack of black pepper. 

Finish: Long, with notes of chocolate-covered ginger and white pepper. The orange marmalade carries through from the palate.
